Community Wealth Building (CWB) is a transformative approach to local economic development that prioritises fairness, sustainability, and community ownership. Across Northern Ireland, awareness and support for CWB strategies are growing, with impactful local initiatives already in place. This document explores the development of place-based CWB partnerships in Larne and the North-West—two pilot initiatives facilitated by Development Trusts NI (DTNI). These partnerships, led by community anchor organisations and supported by cross-sectoral institutions, aim to address economic and social challenges by fostering local investment, job creation, and sustainable development. Through collaboration, research, and strategic action, these partnerships demonstrate how CWB can create inclusive economic opportunities, ensuring wealth is retained and reinvested within local communities.
