The North West Model of Community Wealth Building – Reflections from Practice

The North West Model of Community Wealth Building: Reflections from Practice explores the key lessons emerging from the development and early delivery of Community Wealth Building (CWB) in the North West. Drawing on the experience of the North West Community Wealth Building Partnership, it highlights how place-based collaboration between community organisations, public institutions and social finance partners can translate CWB from policy ambition into practical action. The paper identifies seven key learnings – including the importance of partnership infrastructure, investment readiness, social enterprise clustering, strategic use of social value, place-based finance, community ownership of assets, and long-term systems change – offering insights that can inform future CWB policy and practice across Northern Ireland.
