Join the DTNI Board of Directors

In preparing DTNI to respond to a new development landscape, and in line with good governance, we are recruiting for new board directors.  As a member led organisation, one of our priorities is to involve members in the work of the network and to recruit for representation at a board level.

Development Trusts NI works as the official partner of government in rolling out its Community Asset Transfer policy. There are several new developments that support this work for our membership of community development trusts (CDTs):

  • A recommitment from central government to the policy framework of Community Asset Transfer as it attempts to ‘build back better’. The strategic and operational response is being led by the Department of Finance and Communities alongside DTNI.
  • A new programme to advance Community Wealth Building in NI led by DTNI and our partner Trademark. This will advance our members interest in local economic development.
  • DTNI representation on the Joint Forum (government & third sector). An opportunity to shape the strategic development priorities of the voluntary and community sector and ensure the voice of CDTs is heard.
  • DTNI advocacy for a Community Rights Act has received substantial recognition from local government, the NI Executive and NI Assembly.
  • New policy proposals from the Department for Communities to develop the capacity of CDTs to strategically lead in neighbourhood regeneration, address poverty and inequality and build social capital.
  • We are also in the early stages of preparing a proposal to acquire our own asset for use by members.

We are looking to add to our pool of knowledge and experience in the areas of governance, economic development & regeneration, finance & investment, business planning, public policy, community planning, asset transfer and community rights.
