Register now for Creating Resilient Economies events - Dungannnon & Belfast

DTNI is currently developing a Community Charter, outlining what needs to be done to create more resilient local economies across NI.

The Charter aims to capture the views and aspirations of both third sector organisations and individuals on how each can contribute to their own local economy. The Charter will also seek to explore what actions local authorities can take to ensure that money stays within the local economy (e.g. procuring and commissioning services more locally).

We wish to frame the issues by obtaining your views, in a workshop setting, about how we should go forward. To do this, we will be working again with Neil McInroy, CEO of Centre for Local Economic Strategies, our partner organisation in this initiative.

There are two opportunities to take part:

Monday 21st May, 11.30am-1.30pm, The Junction (STEP) Beechvalley Way, Dungannon BT70 1BS;

Tuesday 22nd May, 12.00 - 2.00pm, The Duncairn Cultural Centre, Belfast.

Neil is a dynamic communicator, with the ability to break down the social and economic issues in a way that can be universally understood. His involvement is sure to engage both individuals and organisations to clarify the role they can play in both the delivery of local services, and in holding public bodies to account for their public service delivery.

The resulting document will function as a lobbying tool and should influence the debate around the need for both social value in the procurement process and community rights legislation. We would love to see as much engagement from both our membership and other key organisations as possible.
