Through the provision of information, resources and a variety of direct contact, Development Trusts NI assists interested communities explore the benefits and relevance of the development trust approach.
We also provide useful resources, training and limited support to communities wishing to establish a development trust.
Support and strengthen established development trusts
Development Trusts NI facilitates learning and development through a range of networking opportunities including an annual conference, a programme of training seminars and the provision of funding to resource visits between members and potential members. In addition Development Trusts NI staff provide advice, a range of bespoke training opportunities and regular information on opportunities and resources. Established development trusts can access a wide range of membership benefits and many useful resources (including a regularly updated funding guide) through the member only section within this website.
Development Trusts NI is also committed to contributing, wherever possible, to the income of our members, including commissioned member arrangements, consultancy opportunities through the Pool, the hire of development trust facilities and payments for contributing to training sessions and for hosting visits from other development trusts.
Promote and represent the interests of development trusts
The development trust movement needs a strong voice to influence the contexts within which development trusts operate and to maximise the opportunities and resources available to further their aims. Development Trusts NI is therefore involved in a range of promotional and representational activity within the community, social enterprise and voluntary sectors, with local authorities, the Northern Ireland Government and with a range of other relevant agencies.
