Community Wealth Building Webinar
According to the Living Wage Foundation, more than 100,000 people in Northern Ireland are in low-paid insecure work, with nearly a quarter of the workforce earning less than the Real Living Wage. In-work poverty is at a record high, while large numbers have dropped out of the labour market. All of this has been exacerbated by the impact of Covid and an escalating cost of living crisis.
This seminar examines how community wealth building, a systemic approach to transforming local economies, can help to improve employment opportunities and strengthen workers’ rights.
- Joe Cullinane was appointed Leader of North Ayrshire Council on 30 August 2016 and on 17 May 2017 following a change in administration. Following a cabinet reshuffle in June 2020, it was agreed that his portfolio would be for matters relating to Community Wealth Building, as well as areas such as the budget and the Ayrshire Growth Deal.
