Aisling Bursaries 2022

We are proud to announce that DTNI is sponsoring the Innovation Factory award at the 2022 Aisling Bursaries.

This year’s worthy winner is Shania McCann from Andersonstown in west Belfast. Shania is just about to start her second year studying Psychology at Ulster University in Coleraine, and is the first in her family to go to university.

She will continue to live at home whilst studying, and plans to use her Aisling bursary to offset her travel costs and to buy course materials.

When she qualifies, Shania hopes to remain in west Belfast, working with vulnerable people in her local community.

The Aisling Bursaries were launched in March 2000 by the Andersonstown News and West Belfast Partnership to provide financial support to students from disadvantaged or challenging backgrounds who aspire to take up further and higher education or training.

All the awards are funded by local businesses, and bursaries of £1,000 or £500 are allocated to students by an independent panel. To date, 930 students of all ages from west Belfast have benefitted from donations totalling £738,500.

DTNI is delighted to support this initiative, and to help in overcoming barriers to education, training, or employment.
